Fika is a weekly coffee that takes place at 10 a.m. at the Blue House every Thursday. Fikas are free and open to the public. We provide the coffee, bread, butter, and jam!
Join us for the kick-off of the Blue House's Housing Fika series with Casius Pealer. Director of Tulane’s Master of Sustainable Real Estate Development (MSRED) program, a Professor of Practice in the School of Architecture, and a commissioner for the Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO), Casius will lead a discussion contextualizing the language around real estate and equity, addressing the origins of these terms and what that might mean for contemporary housing and development work.
Casius serves many roles; trained as an architect and a real estate attorney, he has over 18 years of community development experience, including four years as legal counsel for public housing authorities across the country implementing mixed-finance redevelopment projects. He has also worked in the nonprofit sector as the first Director of Affordable Housing at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and in the public sector as Assistant General Counsel for Real Estate at the District of Columbia Housing Authority (DCHA).
